Palace names Randy Escolango as DOH Usec, replaces Vergeire

DOH Sec. Teodoro Herbosa administers the oath of office of DOH Usec. Randy Bacolor Escolango

Malacañang on Friday named Randy Bacolor Escolango as undersecretary of the Department of Health.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin confirmed Escolango's appointment dated July 14, replacing Dr. Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire.

Aside from Vergeire, Undersecretaries Achilles Gerard Bravo and Dr. Kenneth Ronquillo are no longer part of the agency. This was confirmed by DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa.

The three former officials were part of the DOH Executive Committee and were all Career Executive Service Officers.

In a Facebook post, Escolango said he took his oath of office before Herbosa on Friday. He also thanked President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. for his trust and confidence in him.

"I look forward to working under his (Herbosa's) guidance as we pursue our shared vision of a responsive, resilient, and inclusive health system for our people," Escolango said. —LDF/KG, GMA Integrated News
