Voter registration for BSKE 2025 hits over 1.4M


The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said that voter registration for the 2025 Baranggay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) has already reached over 1.4 million.  

Based on the data from the Comelec, a total of 1,452,060 individuals registered to vote for the BSKE as of Thursday, August 7, or a week after registration opened. 

Region IV-A (Calabarzon) recorded the highest number of registrations with 184,683. It was followed by Region III (Central Luzon) with 154,551; Region V (Bicol) with 114,051; and the National Capital Region with 111,979.

The Special Registration Anywhere Program (SRAP) sites in Metro Manila, meanwhile, received 10,418 voter applications. 

Elections chief George Garcia previously said the voter registration for the 2025 BSKE is “the most successful voter registration in history," as it logged the most number of registrations in the shortest period.

The 10-day nationwide voter registration for the 2025 BSKE started on Friday, August 1 and will continue until August 10.

The Comelec earlier said it is eyeing to register 1 million voters during the registration period. It increased its goal to 1.5 million after it hit its target just five days within the registration period. 

The poll body likewise said there will be no extension for the BSKE voter registration period. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
