Voter registration for 2025 BSKE hit 2.7M — Comelec

More than 2 million Filipinos registered during the ten-day nationwide voter registration for the 2025 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE), according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

The total number of voter applications exceeded the Comelec target of 1.5 million registrants for the registration period.

Based on the data of the poll body,  the total number of applications stood at 2,727,643. Of the figures, Region IV-A (Calabarzon) recorded the highest number of voter registration with 324,017. It was followed by Negros Island with 234,032; and Region III (Central Luzon) with 220,650.

Region V (Bicol) recorded 206,845  while the National Capital Region (NCR) reported 188,702 registrants. The Special Register Anywhere Program (SRAP) sites in Metro Manila received 10,549 applications.

Poll chief George Erwin Garcia reiterated the voter registration for the 2025 BSKE is “the most successful voter registration in history” — surpassing the number of applications in the recent polls.

Garcia also said 65%-67% of the registrants were youth.

“Overall, generally peaceful ang ating registration. Napaka-matagumpay po ito. Again, inuulit natin, ito ang pinakamatagumpay na registration sa kasaysayan ng buong Commission, ng registration, ng ating election,” he said.

(Overall, the registration period is generally peaceful. It is a victory for us. It is also, again, the most successful registration in the history of the Comelec, our registration, and our elections.)

“Nakakatuwa, sampung araw almost 2.8M ang nagpa-rehistro…Nalagpasan pa ang registration na ginawa namin nitong nakaraang taon,” he added.

(We’re happy that almost 2.8M registered during the ten-day period. That surpasses our registration last year.)

The ten-day nationwide voter registration for the 2025 BSKE started on Friday, August 1 until Sunday, August 10.

However, voter registration in SRAP sites was opened until Thursday, August 7.

The Comelec earlier said it is eyeing to register 1 million voters during the registration period. It increased its goal to 1.5 million after it hit its target just five days within the registration period.

The poll body likewise said there will be no extension for the BSKE voter registration period. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
