LTO temporarily suspends license of driver caught changing license plate

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended for 90 days the driver's license of a motorist caught changing a vehicle's license plate, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Sunday.

The motorist was caught on video changing the license plate of a Toyota Hilux Tamaraw while on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX). The video has gone viral, the LTO said.

In its show cause order, the LTO also ordered the registered owner of the vehicle to appear before the LTO Office of Intelligence and Investigation Division on August 22 and explain why he/she should not be administratively charged with violation and penalized with suspension or revocation of driver's license.

The LTO also put an alarm status on the vehicle to prevent any transactions while under investigation.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon urged the public to report similar incidents for appropriate action. —KG, GMA Integrated News
