BI nabs fake Filipino at NAIA 3
The Bureau of Immigration has arrested a Chinese man found to have been misrepresenting himself as a Filipino.
The suspect arrived on board a Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong on August 21 and was nabbed by immigration officers at the NAIA Terminal 3.
The Chinese was the subject of a mission order and an investigation after the bureau received information from government intelligence sources about his alleged illegally acquired Philippine documents.
He was found to be using a Philippine passport issued in 2021, and was in possession of several Philippine identity cards showing that he is a Filipino.
The Alien Registration Division confirmed that his fingerprints matched those of a Chinese citizen, who previously held a long-term visa and an Alien Certificate Registration Identity Card.
The suspect is said to own many major businesses in the Philippines, and has joined different economic and business groups.
“Without naturalization, a foreign national is not eligible to get Philippine citizenship documents,” said Immigration Commissioner Joel Viado.
“Government intelligence sources have reason to believe that this is another case of assumed Philippine identity, similar to that of Alice Guo,” he added.
The Chinese is now facing a deportation case for misrepresentation, and is currently held at the BI’s holding facility in Bicutan, Taguig. –NB, GMA Integrated News
