PPA: Masbate port passenger operations suspended due to inclement weather

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) on Tuesday temporarily suspended the operations of some passenger ships in Masbate due to the inclement weather brought about by the low pressure area (LPA) and southwest monsoon (habagat).

According to Sam Nielsen’s report on Super Radyo dzBB, the PPA-Masbate announced the cancellation of the following trips:

All fastcraft of BB. Montenegro Shipping Lines to Masbate City, Pilar, Sorsogon

BB. Kho Shipping Lines M/V Baleno Star to Mogpog, Masbate, and Pasacao, Camarines Sur

Meanwhile, the operations of BB Kho Shpping Lines M/V Batuan en route to Mobo, Masbate, Pilar, Sorsogon was likewise suspended for preventive maintainance.

The PPA reminded the public to directly communicate with the agency before heading to the ports for further information.

LPA, Habagat

According to PAGASA, rains will persist over a huge swath of the country due to the LPA, habagat, and localized thunderstorms.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms is forecast over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, and Eastern Visaya due to the LPA.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms may be experienced over MIMAROPA, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and the rest of Visayas due to habagat.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms may prevail over the rest of the country.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the LPA was last seen over the coastal waters of Paracale, Camarines Norte at 3 a.m.

PAGASA warned the public against possible flash floods and landslides due to the heavy rains. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
