Nartatez relieves Fajardo as PNP spokesperson — NAPOLCOM

Philippine National Police (PNP) acting chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has relieved Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo as the organization’s spokesperson, the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) confirmed Wednesday.

In a statement, the NAPOLCOM said Nartatez made the decision as Fajardo is not in the proper office to serve as spokesperson because she is the current director of the PNP’s Directorate for Comptrollership.

“The NAPOLCOM chief likewise welcomed Nartatez’s move to relieve P/BGen. Jean Fajardo as PNP spokesperson, emphasizing the importance of aligning the post with the Public Information Office,” it said.

“Nartatez explained that Fajardo is currently detailed with the Directorate for Comptrollership and therefore not in the proper office to serve as spokesperson,” it added.

On Wednesday, Nartatez was asked if the PNP will have a new spokesperson.

“The spokesperson, the Public Information Office, nandyan na kanilang lahat yun. So all the repository of reports, nandyan sa kanya. And hinihimay niya yan so it will be ready to the public katulad niyo kung mayroon kayong tinatanong. Nasa kanya yun,” he said.

(The spokesperson, the Public Information Office, they all have it there. So all the repository of reports they have it there. And he organizes it so it will be ready for the public just like you if you have questions. It's with him.)

“So bakit mayroon pa tayong spokesperson? He's the spokesperson,” he added.

(So why do we still have a spokesperson? He's the spokesperson.)
