PNP: Torre takes one-month leave until September 29
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday said its former chief Police General Nicolas Torre III has filed a leave of absence from August 28 to September 29 following his sudden removal from the top post.
According to the PNP, Torre is currently assigned to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) under the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM).
“Siya po ay nag-apply ng leave na nagsisimula po ng August 28 at magtatapos po ito sa September 29. So halos isang buwan po,” PNP public information office (PIO) chief Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said in an ambush interview.
(He applied for leave starting on August 28 and ending on September 29. So almost a month.)
“Ginamit po niya yung kaniyang leave na mandatory, special privilege leave, at yung kaniya pong service leave,” he added.
(He used his mandatory leave, special privilege leave, and his service leave.)
Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. on Tuesday took over the PNP as acting chief after the sudden relief of Torre from the top post, which was announced the same day.
Just nearly three months ago on June 2, Torre took over the police organization.
Interior and Local Government Jonvic Remulla on Tuesday said one of the reasons Torre was relieved as PNP chief was his defiance to an order of the National Police Commission on the reassignment of key officials.
However, Remulla also said that Marcos is considering Torre for a government position. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
