Palace condemns shooting of contractor in Negros Oriental

The Marcos administration condemned the incident in Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental wherein a contractor was shot by a riding-in-tandem.

''Tama lang po na imbestigahan iyan para malaman natin ang puno’t dulo niyan at kinukondena natin ang mga karahasan na ito – iyan ay ayon sa Pangulo,'' Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said in a briefing.

(It's just right to investigate this to determine the cause, we condemned this incident, according to the President.)

She said the Philippine National Police (PNP) should ensure that no crime would be committed in relation to the ongoing investigation into anomalous and ghost flood projects.

Police said that the contractor was on his way to a quarry site in Barangay San Francisco when he was ambushed by the suspects. The victim suffered four gunshot wounds.

Authorities were still finding out if the victim is a contractor in Santa Catalina or in other areas.

The police already have a person of interest in the case, earlier reports said. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
