Why Vince Dizon at DPWH? Marcos says he's familiar with public works
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said Monday that newly installed Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon was chosen to lead the agency due to his familiarity with the tasks.
In an ambush interview, Marcos said Dizon has also done a good job at the Department of Transportation.
“And why Vince Dizon? Because he seems… he stand a very good job sa DOTr and I think he already set the stage for all of the things we need to do so pwede na niya iwanan and go to public works,” Marcos told reporters.
“He’s also familiar with the workings of Department of Public Works and Highways,” he added.
Dizon took oath before the President this morning, replacing Manuel “Manny” Bonoan.
On Sunday, Malacañang announced the resignation of Bonoan from the top DPWH post and the appointment of Dizon as public works chief.
Also on Monday, Marcos said he accepted the resignation of former Public Works and Highways secretary Manny Bonoan due to command responsibility.
Speaking to reporters in Pasay City, Marcos said Bonoan took responsibility for all the issues hounding the flood control projects.
“I think it was Secretary Bonoan who said that basically he took responsibility, all of these things happened, all of these problems happened under his watch so under the principle of command responsibility that he felt that should leave his post,” Marcos said. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
