Palace says LWUA taking actions to ensure good water service to consumers

Malacañang on Wednesday assured the public that the Local Water Utilities Administration is already taking steps regarding the operations of water service provider PrimeWater to guarantee good service to consumers.

During a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro was asked for development regarding the actions that must be taken after LWUA submitted its recommendation to the Office of the President following its probe into the water service provider.

Castro, however, did not provide details as regards LWUA's actions.

''Mayroon na pong ginagawa ang LWUA at ang ibang mga concerned agencies at hindi lamang namin muna isisiwalat kung ano po ang mga hakbang, dahil mahirap po na baka magapang,'' Castro said.

(The LWUA and other concerned agencies are doing something but we intend to not disclose further details.)

During his fourth State of the Nation Address, the President vowed that water service providers and their joint venture partners liable for water service interruptions in several parts of the country would be held accountable.

Marcos made the firm stance as he lamented that more than six million consumers are currently affected by the water service interruptions.

He ordered an investigation into the operations of PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. due to numerous service-related complaints.  PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. is owned by the Villar family.

For its part, the water service provider had vowed to be open to any meaningful dialogue that will resolve concerns as it also affirmed it is committed to cooperating with LWUA. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
