Marcos confers Order of Sikatuna to Lagdameo, Fernandez

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Thursday conferred the Order of Sikatuna to former Ambassador Antonio Manuel Lagdameo and former Foreign Affairs Chief Coordinator Bernadette Fernandez.

The ceremony took place at the Study Room in Malacañang Palace.

Lagdameo served as Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations, wherein he campaigned for the Philippines to secure a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council.

Lagdameo, who retired, was replaced by former Foreign Affairs secretary Enrique Manalo.

Meanwhile, Fernandez's appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Korea was already confirmed by the Commission on Appointments last June.

The Order of Sikatuna is the national order of diplomatic merit of the Republic of the Philippines. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
