'I'm very upset': Marcos teary-eyed in latest podcast trailer
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. was seen being emotional in the latest trailer of his podcast as he talked about Filipinos facing difficulties.
“Yes, [I’m teary-eyed] because I’m very upset. I see people having a hard time, and they don’t deserve it,” Marcos said.
The president made the remark as he was interviewed by GMA Integrated News’ Vicky Morales.
“Mabuti kung masamang tao 'yan, dapat parusahan. Hindi naman eh, walang ginawa 'yan kung hindi magtrabaho, kung hindi mahalin ang pamilya,” Marcos said.
(They must be punished if they’re bad people, but that’s not the case. They did nothing but work, love their family.)
“Ba’t mo paparusahan? Para magpayaman ka? (Why punish them? Just so you could get rich?) That makes no sense to me,” he added.
The first part of Vicky Morales’ exclusive interview with Marcos will be aired on 24 Oras Weekend this Sunday, September 7, 5:30 PM on GMA 7.
Earlier this week, Marcos said that even the 2026 National Expenditure Program (NEP) contains questionable allocations that need to be properly addressed.
The President was explaining the workings of the commission he planned to create and investigate anomalous flood control projects when he mentioned that the executive branch had been finding irregularities.
Marcos on Wednesday tasked the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to conduct a sweeping review of the DPWH proposed budget under the 2026 NEP. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/KG, GMA Integrated News
