PCO calls for more funding to repair damaged PTV facilities

Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Dave Gomez over the weekend called for more funds to rehabilitate facilities of the state-run People’s Television Network (PTV), such as damaged air conditioning units and leaking ceilings.

In a video shared by the PCO on its Facebook account, Gomez said he has already been made aware of on-air concerns made by veteran journalist Mike Abe.

“Very early on, ‘yung unang unang bisita ko pa lang sa PTV4, nakita ko na nga ‘yung mga sinasabi niyang tumutulong mga bubongan, sirang aircon, totoo ‘yun,” he said.

“Kaya noong nag-testify ako sa Congress to present and defend our budget mga three weeks ago pa, naimumungkahi na natin sa Kongreso na kailangan talaga ng pondo ng PTV4 para ma-rehabilitate ‘yung PTV4,” he added.

(Very early, from my very first visit to PTV4, I already saw what he was saying—the leaking ceilings, damaged aircon, those are true. That is why when I testified in Congress to present and defend our budget around three weeks ago, we already suggested to Congress that PTV4 needs funds for rehabilitation.)

According to Gomez, he has already called on general manager Malou Choa-Fagar and chair Vivian Recio to draft a proposal of the facilities that need to be fixed.

“Nasa akin na ‘yung proposal nila kung magkano kailangan, ano ‘yung dapat gawin sa PTV4. Alam natin ‘yun at tinitignan na natin ‘yung ano ‘yung problemang ‘yun. Ayusin natin ‘yun. Ayusin natin ‘yun,” he said.

(The proposal—what needs to be fixed and what needs to be done to PTV4—is already with me. We already know and we are looking at the problems. We will fix that. We will fix that.) — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA Integrated News
