Does it have a name? Imee Marcos carries a crocodile-shaped bag to session
As the Senate gets inundated with investigations on the flood control anomalies, Senator Imee Marcos on Tuesday caused a brief stir as she attended the session carrying a mini handbag shaped like a crocodile.
The brown bag was on the senator's desk when Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri made a special mention about it as he read the Senate's business of the day.
"I'd just also like to make special mention of the bag of Senator Imee Marcos," Zubiri said.
"I have never seen such kind of unique bag. It can be focused. Does that have a name?" he added.
Marcos can be seen smiling as she took the bag and placed it on her side.
In her Facebook account, Marcos also posted photos of her "BB bag," which she said was a "scene stealer."
The Internet describes "BB bag" (Bébé Bandoulière) as a term used by designer brands to describe a small to medium-sized bag.
"Nakahuli na akong isa, dapat makulong silang lahat," she said.
In the Philippines, some compare corrupt politicians to crocodiles.
Before Zubiri's remark about the bag, Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson delivered the second part of his privilege speech detailing the alleged corruption of flood control funds by several engineers of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Separate testimonies of a contractor and a DPWH engineer during the inquiries if the Senate and the House of Representatives linked several lawmakers to the flood control project anomalies.
During the session, the new heads of the committees were also announced following an earlier change in leadership, which saw Sen. Vicente Sotto III taking the helm of the chamber from Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero.
