BOC probes 4 DPWH engineers linked to flood control project mess
The Bureau of Customs has started investigating the four engineers of the Department of Public Works and Highways who are being linked to anomalous flood control projects, Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said Wednesday.
“Tatlo ‘yung tinitignan namin (we are looking into three of them),” Nepomuceno said in a press briefing.
Asked if these were Henry Alcantara, Brice Hernandez, and JP Mendoza, Nepomuceno said they are also investigating Abelardo Calalo, the respondent in the complaint filed by Batangas Representative Leandro Leviste.
“Tina-trabaho na nung ano— pero hindi na namin i-detail,” Nepomuceno said.
(They are already working on it. But we will not provide details.)
Alcantara, Hernandez, and Mendoza have attended hearings investigating the anomalous flood control projects.
Before the House Infrastructure Committee, Hernandez alleged that some senators are involved in alleged anomalous flood control projects.
Meanwhile, Calalo is facing a complaint for graft and corruption. He has denied the allegations against him.
Nepomuceno said they will investigate everyone mentioned in the congressional inquiries, even senators and congressmen, in accordance with the directive of the President.
“Utos ng Pangulo natin na gawin namin ‘yung lifestyle check doon sa mga nabanggit. Sasakyan ‘yung unahin natin. Kasi ang interest ng BOC kung ano ‘yung ini-import, eh. ‘Yung mga bahay, ganun, hindi namin trabaho ‘yung bahay,” he said.
(It is our President’s order that we conduct lifestyle checks on those mentioned. We will prioritize the vehicles first. Because the focus of the BOC in on the imported goods. As for houses and such, those are not within our scope of work.) —AOL, GMA Integrated News
