DPWH asks DOJ to put Bonoan, others on immigration lookout list
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Wednesday asked the Department of Justice to place its former head Manuel Bonoan and other personalities under an immigration lookout as the agency conducts its own investigation on non-existent and substandard flood control projects.
In a letter addressed to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon requested for the issuance of Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) against Bonoan, Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque, as well as corporate officers of MBB Global Properties Corporation: Macy Monique Maglanque (president), Sunshine Bernardo (corporate secretary), and Fatima Gay Dela Cruz (treasurer).
“An investigation is being conducted on DPWH officials and key officers of construction companies allegedly involved in ghost projects and/or substandard construction of flood control projects,” the letter read.
“The timely issuance of ILBO is of utmost necessity to enable the current investigations to proceed without delay and to hold those liable accountable to the Filipino people”, it added.
Further, Dizon asked the Bureau of Immigration “to immediately inform the DPWH and other law enforcement agencies of any information regarding the impending travel of the said individuals.”
This development came after Senator Panfilo Lacson earlier linked Bonoan with Candaba, Pampanga Mayor Rene Maglanque whom he said is a contractor of multi-billion worth of flood control projects.
Lacson said that Maglanque was the former president of construction company Globalcrete Builders, which allegedly secured a P2.195-billion worth of flood control projects from 2018 to 2024 in Bulacan alone.
The senator added that Maglanque is also the owner and former president of the MBB Global Properties Corporation which owns the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Clark, Pampanga that was built for almost P1 billion. One of his children now sits as the company's president. He claimed that MBB stands for Maglanque, Bernardo, and Bonoan. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
