Romulo to sue Discayas, bare SALN

Roman Romulo SALN Curlee Discaya Sarah Discaya

Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo on Wednesday said he would sue the Discaya couple, contractors Curlee and Sarah, after they linked him to corruption involving flood control projects.

Romula added that he was ready to disclose his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth and waive his bank secrecy rights to show how he lived.

“I’ll meet with the lawyers soon for their advice on what to file against them,” Romulo told GMA News Online.

Romulo said he initially didn't want to dignify the Discayas' allegations against him.

“I am preparing to release my SALN and also to waive bank secrecy. I'm doing this because that, I think, is the best way for me to show how I live. The best way forward is really just to show these things,” Romulo said in an ANC interview.

He said that while he has proposed budget items to be included in the national budget, these projects were based on merit, such as the recommendations of the Schools Division Superintendent for classrooms.

“I recommend projects, but not all of my recommendations get funded under the national budget. And that is a fact. Insertion has gotten such a bad name," Romulo said.

"But the truth is, as a representative, that is your job: you have to listen to your people, you have to listen to your constituents. Find out and then recommend [programs beneficial to them],” he added.

Romulo has said that he was never involved in any bidding nor in selecting contractors for DPWH projects.

“In this regard, it is quite clear that these accusations are nothing more than an attempt to divert attention, shift blame, and evade accountability for matters properly within their responsibility,” Romulo said.

“Such tactics undermine the integrity of official proceedings and mislead the public with baseless insinuations. I challenge my accusers to present clear and solid evidence,” he added. –NB, GMA Integrated News
