SWS: 47% of Filipinos see quality of life to improve in next 12 months

Nearly half of Filipinos aged 18 years old and above believe that their quality of life will improve in the next 12 months, according to the latest survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS).

The survey showed that 47% of respondents are considered “optimists” as they believe their life will improve in the coming months. Meanwhile, 37% said it will stay the same and 5% or the “pessimists” said their quality of life will worsen in the next 12 months.

However, 11% of the respondents did not give an answer, the SWS said.

The non-commissioned survey interviewed 1,200 adults face-to-face:  300 each in Metro Manila, Balance Luzon (or Luzon outside Metro Manila), the Visayas, and Mindanao.

The sampling error margins are ±3% for national percentages and ±6% each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

The SWS said that the net personal optimism score is “excellent” +41 based on the results of the latest survey conducted on June 25 to 29. This is a point higher than the net personal optimism score of “excellent” +40 last April.

An earlier survey revealed that 35% said their quality of life improved (gainers), 23% said it got worse (losers), and 42% claimed it remained the same (unchanged).

The SWS noted that the net personal optimism was higher among “gainers” (excellent +56) and “unchanged” (excellent +42) than among “losers” (fair +18). —Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA Integrated News
