Kerwin Espinosa attorney says report of shooting ‘fake news’

A report alleging that Albuera, Leyte Mayor Kerwin Espinosa has been shot is "fake news," his attorney said Sunday.

“Fake news po. Matagal na naka [schedule] yung medical check-up and treatment niya sa matagal [nang] injury sa kanang kamay nya. Just talked to him a while ago,” lawyer Raymund Palad said in a message to GMA Integrated News amid reports that Espinosa had been shot and rushed to a hospital in Manila.

(That's fake news. His medical-check-up and treatment for an old injury to his right hand have been long scheduled.)

Last April, Espinosa was shot in Albuera while campaigning for the mayoral post. He denied plotting the ambush himself, and said he feared for his life after seven policemen were charged over the incident. — BM, GMA Integrated News
