Marcos reinstates policy on LGU 'acceptance' of gov't projects

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has directed all government departments and agencies to reinstate the “acceptance” process of local government units before the national government projects can be deemed as completed.

During Monday's press conference, Marcos pointed out that this would ensure that the projects are fully finished before turnover.

''I have instructed the DPWH, and for that matter all of the departments to return that – tinanggal in the last administration iyan eh iyong acceptance. Maalala ko noong governor ako, walang puwedeng sabihing completed kung hindi accepted ng local government,'' Marcos said.

(It was removed in the last administration. If I remember, when I was governor, projects can't be deemed completed if not accepted by the local government.)

''Ibabalik natin iyon – tinanggal nila in the last administration, we are putting it back because that is one of the best safeguards that we have. So, that is essentially the situation as it stands. We are trying to move as quickly as possible,'' he added.

(We will return that, they removed that in the last administration, we are putting it back because that is one of the best safeguards that we have. So, that is essentially the situation as it stands. We are trying to move as quickly as possible.)

Marcos also said that despite the probe into anomalous flood control projects, the administration continues other infrastructure development projects, as well as the programs on the education and other social projects.

''As a matter of fact, we are accelerating them and increasing them,'' Marcos said.

Through Executive Order No. 94, Marcos formed the Independent Commission for Infrastructure to investigate the irregularities on infrastructure projects, particularly the flood control programs.

The ICI shall prioritize the investigation of flood control and other infrastructure projects within the last ten years from the effectivity of the said order.

Based on its findings, the body shall recommend civil and administrative cases or actions against those responsible to the appropriate disciplinary, prosecutorial, and administrative bodies, such as the Office of the President, Office of the Ombudsman, the Department of Justice, and the Civil Service Commission. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
