Sara Duterte: Marcos should have taken action with information on flood control projects

President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. should immediately address the flood control mess instead of waiting for the findings of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), tasked to probe the status of government flood control projects, Vice President Sara Duterte said Tuesday.

The Vice President answered questions from reporters as she faced the House Committee on Appropriations hearing on the Office of the Vice President's proposed P902 million budget for 2026.

"Kung ikaw. Presidente ka, tapos alam mo na kung anong nangyayari, makikita mo na na, based on the budget, kung paano binababoy iyong  pera ng bayan, mag-aantay ka ba pa ng Commission o Truth Commission on ano pang Commission?" Sara Duterte said.

"Aksyunan mo dapat agad ‘yan,” she added.

(As the President, you already know what is happening on the budget, how it is wasted, do you still need to wait for a Commission? You should immediately take action.)

The Vice President then challenged the President to conduct lifestyle checks on members of the House.

“Mag-lifestyle check ka na dyan sa mga congressman at sa mga staff nila. Ang dami diyan, may bahay sa abroad,” she said.

(Conduct a lifestyle check on House members and their staff. A lot of them have houses abroad.)

“Ano pang investigative body ang kailangan mo?,” Duterte added.

(What investigative body do you still need?)
