Palace looking forward to working with new Speaker Bojie Dy
Following the change of leadership in the House of Representatives, Malacañang said on Wednesday that it was looking forward to working with the newly elected Speaker Faustino Dy III in pushing for measures that will provide basic services and protect the country's democracy.
In a press statement, the Presidential Communications Office said that President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. ''recognizes the vital role of the House of Representatives, especially at a time when the public demands visible results and Congress is called upon to take active steps that address people’s concerns and deliver real improvements in daily life.''
''We respect the independence of the chamber and acknowledge the contributions of former Speaker Martin Romualdez. We now look forward to working with Speaker Faustino Dy III to advance measures that strengthen the economy, ensure basic services, and protect our democracy,'' the PCO said.
The PCO added that the Marcos administration remains committed to constructive collaboration with all lawmakers to keep the focus on the needs of Filipinos and move the country forward.
Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, the President's cousin, had quit as Speaker of the lower chamber of Congress amid allegations that he is linked to corruption and irregularities in flood control projects.
He is replaced by Dy, after getting 253 affirmative votes. –NB, GMA Integrated News
