Sandro Marcos denies choosing Bojie Dy, says parties met for 'plenty of weeks'

Sandro Marcos Paolo Duterte Bojie Dy speaker

Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos on Wednesday denied Davao City Rep. Paolo "Pulong" Duterte's allegation that it was he who chose Isabela Rep. Faustino "Bojie" Dy III to replace Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez as speaker amid the controversy over flood control projects and budget insertions.

Sandro Marcos, the House Majority Floor Leader and son of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., said Pulong Duterte was not updated on House affairs because the Davao lawmaker was frequently absent.

"Baka style niya ‘yun nung anak siya ng Pangulo.  Pero I can assure you that... we are consultative with all the party leaders. Pwede mo silang tanungin. We met for plenty of weeks," Sandro Marcos told reporters.

(Maybe that was his still when he was the son of the President. But I can assure you that we are consultative with all the party leaders. You can ask them. We met for plenty of weeks.)

Pulong Duterte earlier said that Sandro Marcos of handpicked Dy as the next Speaker to cover up corruption allegations hounding Congress.

“Kung nagpakita sana si Cong Pulong rito sa trabaho at sa session, baka makikita din niya. But I'm sure he's busy looking for the P51 billion that was spent in his district,” Marcos said.

Sandro Marcos was referring to the P51 billion worth of infrastructure projects granted to the first district of Davao City during the last three years of the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte, the father of Pulong Duterte.

The Davao solon, however, said that the projects in his district were legitimate and visible to his constituents.

"If you really want to look for ghost projects under that P51B, go ahead and investigate. The records and actual projects are there—completed and being used by the people of Davao,” Pulong Duterte said in Bisaya.
