House suspends work on Sept. 22, Monday, due to Nando

Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III has ordered the suspension of work at the House of Representatives on September 22, Monday, due to the expected heavy rainfall brought by Super Typhoon Nando.

In a memorandum dated September 21, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco said Dy directed the work suspension pursuant to the Memorandum Circular 97 earlier issued by the Office of the President.

He added the plenary session has also been cancelled but the Budget Amendments Review Subcommittee shall meet at 10 a.m.

"All essential personnel are expected to report for duty to ensure that critical operations within the House of Representatives remain uninterrupted," he further said.

In its 5 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, state weather bureau PAGASA said Nando maintained its strength as it moves closer to Babuyan Islands. —Llanesca Panti and Tina Panganiban Perez/AOL, GMA Integrated News
