Over 2K PNP personnel deployed to several regions for Nando response

There are 2,017 police personnel deployed to at least five regions to provide assistance amid the threat of Super Typhoon Nando, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Monday.

PNP chief public information officer Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said that a critical incident monitoring team was activated and police regional directors in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Zamboanga Peninsula to coordinate with their respective local disaster risk reduction management offices.

“At agad pong inutusan yung ating mga regional directors lalo na po don sa Region 1, 2, 3, 9, at Cordillera na makipag-ugnayan sa kanilang local disaster risk reduction management office,” Tuaño said at the  Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon briefing.

(And our regional directors, especially those in Region 1, 2, 3, 9, and Cordillera, were immediately ordered to coordinate with their local disaster risk reduction management offices.)

“Ang atin pong personnel na ina-locate para po sa ating paghahanda tungkol sa bagyong yan  ay umabot po tayo ng 2,017 para po sa mga nasabing regions.”

(Our personnel allocated for our preparations for the typhoon reached 2,017 for the said regions.)

According to the Tuaño, among the efforts that the PNP will provide include assistance in search and rescue operations, securing evacuation centers, and help in relief assistance distribution.

“Ang Philippine National Police po ay nagtalaga ng sapat na numero upang tulungan po ang ating mga kababayan lalo na po sa evacuation support, road clearing, rescue and monitoring operations, at patuloy na makikipag-ugnayan sa ating mga local government units,” he said.

(The Philippine National Police has assigned a sufficient number of personnel to help our countrymen, especially in evacuation support, road clearing, rescue and monitoring operations, and to continuously coordinate with our local government units.)

Cagayan

Meanwhile, more than 2,000 families have been evacuated so far in Cagayan province.

“As to the figure, ang maibibigay ko lang ay yung cut-off kaninang 4 ng madaling araw. The report that came in summed up to around more than 2,000 families. But there are reports coming in still na hindi pa namin accounted po,” said Cagayan PDRRMO head Rueli Rapsing.

(As to the figure, all I can give is the cut-off from 4 a.m. earlier. The report that came in summed up to around more than 2,000 families. But there are still reports coming in that we have not yet accounted for.)

Rapsing added that while other areas have no power supply, there’s no interruption with the telecommunication lines and water supply in the province.

“In terms of power, interrupted po lahat ng dito sa northern coastal municipalities - northeastern and northwestern municipalities wala pong power as of 11 kanina,” he said. “But the rest of the province, from central to southern Cagayan, there’s still power. Wala pa pong interruption sa telecommunication and water supply.”
