Marcos continues to monitor weather situation —Palace
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. continues to monitor the weather situation as Super Typhoon Nando exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
"The President is monitoring the weather situation and [Defense] Sec. Gibo Teodoro is giving him constant updates," Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro told Palace reporters when asked for Marcos' activities on Tuesday.
Weather bureau PAGASA said that as of 8 a.m., Nando was already outside the PAR.
However, a low pressure area spotted earlier outside PAR has developed into tropical depression.
PAGASA also warned of minimal to moderate risk of storm surge in the coastal areas of Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur. It said one- to two-meter high waves may occur in several towns in low-lying coastal areas of these provinces, which had been hit by torrential rains.
In its 5 a.m. advisory, Signal No. 3 was raised in the following areas:
- Ilocos Norte
- Northwestern portion of Apayao (Calanasan)
- Northwestern portion of mainland Cagayan (Sanchez-Mira, Santa Praxedes, Claveria) including the western portion of Babuyan Islands (Panuitan Isl., Calayan Isl., Dalupiri Isl., Mabaag Isl., Barit Isl., Fuga Isl.)
