Power transmission in Luzon back to normal after Nando onslaught — NGCP

Power transmission in Luzon back to normal after Nando onslaught — NGCP

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced Tuesday that power transmission services in Luzon have returned to normal after it restored transmission lines which were earlier rendered unavailable due to the onslaught of Super Typhoon Nando.

"Normalization of the Luzon grid came after restoration of the last three 69kV (kilovolt) facilities affecting parts of Cagayan and Apayao," NGCP said.

In particular, the grid operator said the Tuguegarao-Magapit 69kV Line was restored at 1:03 p.m., while the Magapit-Camalaniugan 69kV Line was restored at 1:05 p.m.

Lastly, the Lal-lo-Sta. Ana 69kV Line was restored at 1:07 p.m.

"NGCP assures the public that it is continuously monitoring weather disturbances, and its Overall Command Center (OCMC) shall remain activated to monitor the passage of Tropical Cyclone (TC) Ompong in the coming days," the company said.

Super Typhoon Nando exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday morning, according to state weather bureau PAGASA. However, a low pressure area spotted earlier outside PAR has developed into tropical depression. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
