Remulla: NBI recommends filing of complaint vs. individuals named by Bernardo
The National Bureau of Investigation has recommended the filing of a complaint for malversation and indirect bribery against individuals named by former Department of Public Works and Highways Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo over anomalous flood control projects, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said Thursday.
“After evaluating everything and the supplemental affidavit that they just drew up with his lawyers, the NBI already recommended,” Remulla said in an ambush interview.
Remulla said the supplemental affidavit will be provided to the Senate.
“It was sworn to already but we will furnish it immediately to the Senate so that the fear of the other senators will not matter. Kasi nga, we’re doing this at the same time. The public has not yet seen the statement,” he said.
The secretary declined to name the respondents.
However, when asked if the respondents were the people mentioned by Bernardo during the hearing of the Senate blue ribbon committee, Remulla replied in the affirmative.
“Lahat ng binanggit (Everyone mentioned), yes,” Remulla said.
During the hearing, Bernardo tagged Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, former Senators Bong Revilla and Nancy Binay, Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co, and Education Undersecretary Trygve Olaivar.
In separate statements, Escudero, Binay, and Olaivar denied the allegations.
