Where is Zaldy Co? Remulla says DOJ verifying trip to Spain
The Department of Justice is validating information that Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co has traveled to Spain, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said on Thursday.
Remulla made the remark amid allegations linking Co to kickbacks from flood control projects and insertions in the national budget. Co has denied them.
“He’s being tracked already. We're trying to track him and maraming tumutulong ng tao (many people are helping out),” Remulla said in an ambush interview.
Co is now facing a complaint with the DOJ for graft, malversation, and indirect bribery over anomalous flood control projects.
Dismissed Bulacan 1st district engineer Henry Alcantara has said in a Senate inquiry that he worked with former DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo in giving commissions off flood control projects to the camps of Co, Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Joel Villanueva, former senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla, and Caloocan Representative Mitch Cajayon-Uy.
Meanwhile, Remulla said that an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order has been issued for Co upon the request of Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon
Co previously said the allegations against him are “false and baseless.”
"The allegations made against me during today's Senate hearing are false and baseless. I reserve my right to respond to these allegations at the proper time before the proper forum," the congressman had said. –NB, GMA Integrated News
