Passengers stranded at PITX after trips cancelled due to Opong
Some passengers are stranded at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) after trips were cancelled due to Severe Tropical Storm Opong.
According to Jaime Santos’ report in “24 Oras” on Thursday, around 30 bus and plane trips have been cancelled.
Most of the cancelled trips were headed to Mindoro. In the Bicol Region, trips going to Masbate, Tabaco City, and Virac in Catanduanes were also affected.
Some stranded passengers have no choice but to wait for the trips to resume.
“Hintayin namin hangga’t maganda po yung kuwan po ng dagat, kung ano po ang deklara ng Coast Guard, kung pwede nang bumiyahe,” said Ken Bulagay.
(We will just wait until the sea condition improves and what will be the declaration of the Coast Guard, if we can travel again.)
“Ayun nga po, wala kaming budget, ubos na…Maghintay na lang po kami,” said fellow passenger Amilyn Centeno.
(That’s the situation, we no longer have any budget, we ran out… So we’ll just have to wait.)
In the Visayas, trips to Liloan, Iloilo City, Samar/Leyte, Maasin-Laoang, and Laoang-Guiuan were cancelled as a safety precaution.
In Mindanao, trips en route to Davao City and Tagum were also cancelled.
There were also flights going to and from Cebu, Samar, and Northern Samar that were also cancelled. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
