Bongbong Marcos remembers father Ferdinand Sr on death anniversary

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Sunday honored his late father, former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr., on the latter's death anniversary.

"Remembering my father, Apo Lakay, on his 36th death anniversary. His memory and his dreams remain with me always. [heart icon]," Marcos said in a post on Instagram.

Marcos Sr. died on September 28, 1989 in Honolulu, Hawaii, where the family stayed after the 1986 People Power Revolution that put Corazon Aquino in power.

Last September 11, the younger Marcos also remembered his father on his 108th birth anniversary.

In his birthday greeting posted on his social media account, Marcos said he carries his father's lessons every day.

''They remain etched in every decision I make, especially in the moments when the weight of responsibility feels heaviest,'' Marcos said.

''You may no longer walk among us, but your presence lives on in our hearts, in this nation and in the path we continue to build. I miss you, today and always,'' he added.

Marcos is the only son of the late president and former First Lady Imelda Marcos. They are also the parents of incumbent Senator Imee Marcos and Irene Marcos-Araneta. —KG, GMA Integrated News
