PNP warns public vs fake anti-cybercrime accounts

The Philippine National Police on Monday warned the public against fake anti-cybercrime accounts.

In a statement, PNP said Safeweb, Rightful Return PH, and Operation Truth Files are not affiliated with the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG).

The public may reach out to PNP-ACG via its official Facebook page

“We will never ask for money or personal favors in exchange for help. Please always check that you are interacting with our official channels,” PNP acting chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.

“Rest assured, we are taking decisive investigations and will file appropriate cases against perpetrators under Article 315 (Swindling/Estafa) of the Revised Penal Code in relation to RA 10175 and Section 4(b)(3) of RA 10175. We are committed to protecting you from online threats,” he added.

PNP urged the public to report suspicious online activity or cybercrime to authorities.

“The only source of accurate PNP Anti-Cybercrime information is our official Facebook page. We are actively pursuing those who commit cyber fraud, ensuring that appropriate charges are filed, and we are here to guide and support everyone in navigating the online world safely,” PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said.

PNP-ACG earlier reported that over 5,000 persons linked to various online crimes were arrested in the first half of 2025. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
