Marcos: Abuse of power, greed must end
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. said Tuesday that the abuse of power and greed should come to an end.
Marcos made the remark during the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected and appointed officials of the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines in Malacañang Palace.
''Ladies and gentlemen, amidst the challenges affecting our institutions, we must remain firm, uncompromised, and united in fighting corruption. The unscrupulous abuse of power and greed must come to an end,'' Marcos said in his speech.
He stressed that Filipinos are already dismayed and enraged with corruption issues that hound the country every day.
''Our people are exhausted, they are disappointed, they are angry,'' the President said.
''And as I have said before, their rage is valid. It is born from years of frustration at a government characterized by systemic dysfunction and unfulfilled promises,'' he added.
The President underscored that this anger from the public should not be dismissed.
''Let us confront it. Let us be humble and provide concrete solutions,'' Marcos said.
According to Marcos, reforming the government is ''the only way we have to win back the trust of our people.''
''We come from different provinces and parties and have varying perspectives, but we are all united—united in our commitment to serve the Filipino people,''
''Patunayan natin na wala sa kulay ng politika ang tunay na paglilingkod. Ito ay nasa puso, nasa konsensya, at higit sa lahat ay nasa gawa,'' he added.
(Let's prove that being a public servant has no political color. This is in our hearts, in our conscience, and in our actions.)
The President's remarks came amid the ongoing probe into the anomalies and irregularities in the country's flood control projects. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
