DOJ eyes 100 to 200 persons involved in flood control projects mess
One hundred to 200 persons across the country may be involved in the anomalous flood control projects now under investigation, and the Department of Justice may start filing cases in 90 to 120 days, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said on Wednesday.
Remulla said that authorities would file the first complaints or cases over “low-lying fruits,” such as ghost projects.
“Ma-swerte tayo kung Pasko, pamasko nila warrant of arrest. Ma-swerte na tayo doon,” Remulla said.
(We'd be lucky if by Christmas, their Christmas gift would be warrants of arrest. We’d already be fortunate with that.)
Former Department of Public Works and Highways Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, who implicated several lawmakers and government officials before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, went to the Department of Justice on Wednesday.
“Everybody. We have district engineers. We have contractors. And Congressmen. And, of course, nag i-intersect ‘yung congressmen and contractors dito,” Remulla said of the more than 100 individuals who may be involved in the alleged misuse of billions of pesos for flood control projects.
Of this, he said that 67 are reportedly “existing within the halls of Congress.”
“Sabi ko nga eh, kasi inamin naman nila, 'di ba? ‘Yung bid rigging. Bid rigging is a thing that happens everywhere, in violation of law,” he said.
(As I said, because they admitted it, right? The bid rigging. Bid rigging is a thing that happens everywhere, in violation of law.) –NB, GMA Integrated News
