Manila Archdiocese issues 'Oratio Imperata' for integrity, truth, justice
The Archdiocese of Manila on Thursday ordered the praying of Oratio Imperata for integrity, truth, and justice amid issues of corruption hounding the country.
In a pastoral letter of His Eminence Jose Cardinal Advincula addressed to all the clergy, consecrated life communities, religious educators, and the lay faithful in the Archdiocese of Manila, it was indicated that praying the Oratio Imperata for integrity, truth, and justice shall be the prophetic cry of indignation and outrage against the evil of corruption, as well as a resounding call to contrition and conversion.
''At the same time, it will be a manifestation of our fervent hope and undying love for our beloved country, trusting that God’s justice and mercy will triumph,'' the pastoral letter read.
Advincula said the magnitude of corruption in the country has become more and more appalling, and has caused untold damage to institutions, the people, and to the very fabric of moral and social life.
"The evil of corruption is not merely a political or economic problem; it is a profound moral and spiritual crisis that gravely wounds the dignity of the human person and betrays the common good," he said.
The prayer will replace the Prayer of the Faithful during the celebration of the Holy Mass as a clear expression of the urgency and seriousness of the country's current situation.
Further, it was ordered that all the bells of the churches should be rung every 8:00 p.m.
These instructions are to be faithfully observed throughout the entire Archdiocese beginning October 4, 2025 until it is ordered to be lifted. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
