ICI to ask NBI to probe fake news on flood control probe
The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) said Friday it will ask the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into false information that it tapped a group for assistance in the probe against anomalous flood control projects.
It issued the statement amid reports that the commission sought the help of the Task Force Kasanag International in the probe.
“The Commission categorically denies this claim,” it said.
“The ICI has not authorized, deputized, or engaged Task Force Kasanag International, or any group led by Mr. John Chong, in any capacity related to its investigations. This report is entirely untrue and should not be given credence,” it added.
According to the ICI, any partnership or deputations will be announced only through authorized channels.
It said it will ask the NBI to file the appropriate charges.
“The ICI wishes to assure the public that it conducts its mandate with independence, impartiality, and professionalism,” it said.
The ICI is composed of ICI chairperson and retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Andres Reyes Jr., and ICI members former Public Works Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson, and SGV & Co. country managing partner Rosanna Fajardo.
