Grid operations normal despite Paolo onslaught — NGCP
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said Saturday that the country's electricity grid remained normal despite the impact of Severe Tropical Storm (STS) Paolo.
In an advisory, the NGCP said "transmission grid operations remain normal following the landfall of Severe Tropical Storm Paolo."
"No damage to NGCP facilities has been reported," it said.
Severe Tropical Storm (STS) Paolo exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) early Saturday morning, weather service PAGASA said in its 5 a.m.
The remaining Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals over the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and Zambales were lifted hours later.
"With the exit of STS Paolo, which no longer poses a threat to NGCP facilities, the Overall Command Center (OCmC) will be deactivated," the grid operator said.
"NGCP assures the public that it continues to closely monitor weather disturbances and stands ready to reactivate the OCmC should there be any risk to its transmission facilities," it added.
The NGCP said it remains committed to ensuring the stability and reliability of the country's power transmission network. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
