Paolo affected over 313K people — NDRRMC
Tropical Cyclone Paolo has affected a total 313,822 people or 94,744 families in different regions, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said as of Monday.
In its report, the NDRRMC said the affected individuals were reported in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Central Luzon, and Calabarzon.
Most of the affected people were reported in Central Luzon with 246,306.
Of the total affected population, 3,091 people or 866 families were staying in evacuation centers while 5,289 people or 1,928 families were taking shelter in other places.
Floods were still reported in 19 areas. Floods have already subsided in 109 areas.
A total of 27 houses were damaged—26 partially and one totally. Also, six infrastructures were damaged due to Paolo’s impact.
Eight of the 111 affected road sections and 23 of the 36 affected bridges were still impassable.
Power interruptions were still reported in 16 of the 61 affected areas. The water supply in one affected area has been restored.
Two of the 17 affected seaports remained non-operational, leaving 176 passengers, 37 rolling cargoes, 32 vessels, and seven motorbancas stranded.
Classes in 342 areas and work schedules in 128 areas have been suspended due to the threat of the tropical cyclone.
Assistance worth P1,107,766 has been provided to the victims and P1,973,196 to the concerned local governments so far, according to the NDRRMC.
Paolo as a typhoon made landfall over Dinapigue, Isabela on October 3 and exited the Philippine area of responsibility as a severe tropical storm on October 4. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
