AFP personnel pledge allegiance to military’s Code of Conduct
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. led military personnel as they renewed their pledge of allegiance to the AFP Code of Conduct, which marked its 35th anniversary on Monday.
“I am encouraging our commanders, chiefs of offices, sergeants major to disseminate and to remind once again our men and women of the contents of the Code of Conduct,” Brawner said in his remarks during the flag-raising ceremony at Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
“Kasama po doon sa oath natin yung nilalaman ng (Our oath includes the content of the) Code of Ethics. So let us again go back to the Code of Ethics and be reminded of the oath that we just took today,” he added.
The AFP Code of Conduct reflects a set of core values that serve as a compass to the mission of Filipino soldiers, including the adherence to the 1987 Constitution.
Brawner stressed the enduring role of the AFP Code of Conduct to guide their members in upholding the highest standards of honor, service, and patriotism.
In Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, the Philippine Army also conducted the same activity that was led by its commanding general, Lieutenant General Antonio Nafarrete.
The event also featured the launch of the 90th AFP Anniversary logo with the theme “Matatag na Sandatahang Lakas, Sandigan ng Bagong Pilipinas.”
Brawner recently said that some retired officers called on the military to withdraw its support from Marcos but they refused to do so.
He said the retired officers' call was made amid public protests over the flood control anomalies revealed last month. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
