Marcos: The corrupt are not the face of PH government

Amid issues of corruption and irregularities with the ongoing flood control controversy, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. underscored that there are still good people in the government who are willing to sacrifice and serve the Filipino people.

In an episode of the BBM Podcast on Tuesday, Marcos said "government service is not easy."

"We must respect that people are really working very hard and trying their best. You cannot paint everyone in government with the same brush as all of these corrupt operators that you see in government," Marcos said.

"And yes, there are many, many of them. But you will find they do not filter down. These people are making serious sacrifices. Time away from their family. Money out of their own pocket. Things like that," he added.

Marcos also said the corrupt do not represent the Philippine government, rather the blight that impairs it.

"And these corrupt people are not the face of government. All they are is the face of corruption. That's all they are. They are not typical of government," Marcos said.

The President first slammed the shamelessness of corrupt government officials and contractors in his fourth State of the Nation Address in July, stating that he personally found out that some flood control projects were poorly done or non-existent.
