Marcos fetes young Pinoy winners in 14th WorldSkills ASEAN 2025

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Tuesday honored the young Filipinos who represented the Philippines in last month’s 14th WorldSkills ASEAN 2025, thanking them for showcasing the country's high-skilled and talented workforce.

“We did very well, and we're all very proud of you because there is more to this than just a contest or just a competition between different countries in ASEAN. It also shows the quality of the training that we have given our workers,” Marcos said during the delegation’s courtesy call at the President’s Hall in Malacañang.

The Philippine delegation won ten gold medals, seven silver medals, eight bronze medals, and five Medallions for Excellence, the Presidential Communications Office said.

Marcos also feted them by giving cash incentives to the winners. Gold medalists received P100,000 each, while silver medalists got P80,000. Bronze medalists received P60,000, while recipients of the Medallion for Excellence took home P50,000.

“It is a small price to pay, ika nga, for all the work that you do and all the excellence that you have shown and what you have done for the Filipinos and our reputation outside the Philippines, our reputation around the world,” Marcos said.

The Philippines emerged was among the top-performing nations at the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City from August 26 to 28.

Around 300 young professionals competed across 32 official skill areas, such as traditional trades in construction and manufacturing and high-tech fields such as CoBot Systems Integration, Industry 4.0, Cyber Security, Internet of Things, Autonomous Mobile Robotics, and 3D Digital Game Art. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
