Palace: No shortlist yet as to next DOJ chief

Malacañang said Wednesday that there is no shortlist yet as to the replacement of outgoing Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin ''Boying'' Remulla.

This was according to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro during a press briefing.

''Sa ngayon, wala pa po sa ating naibibigay na detalye patungkol po diyan,'' Castro said.

(Right now, there's no detail as regards to that.)

Justice Undersecretary Fredderick Vida will serve as acting chief of the Department of Justice following Remulla's appointment to the Ombudsman post.

Vida is currently the DOJ's undersecretary in charge of finance, administrative service, and personnel cluster.

According to Remulla, he is expected to take his oath by Thursday and may officially assume his duties as Ombudsman by Friday.

The Office of the Ombudsman handles the complaints filed against high-ranking government officials and those occupying supervisory positions, complaints involving grave offenses as well as complaints involving large sums of money and/or properties. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
