Palace to Imee: Don't serve as spokesperson of the Dutertes
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro hit back at Senator Imee Marcos for criticizing the recent appointment of outgoing Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin ''Boying'' Remulla as the new Ombudsman.
In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, Castro said Imee, sister of President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr., should not act as the spokesperson of the Dutertes. This as the senator questioned the move of her brother to appoint Remulla as Ombudsman, claiming that it is a plan to jail Vice President Sara Duterte.
''Bakit po ba natatakot si Senator Imee Marcos sa ganitong mga klase ng mga pag-iisip? Kung wala naman pong naging kasalanan ang mga Duterte, hindi po siya dapat maging spokesperson ng mga Duterte,'' Castro said.
(Why is she afraid regarding these speculations? If the Dutertes are not at fault, she should not serve as their spokesperson.)
Imee had claimed that Remulla was being pushed into the Ombudsman post in order to jail the Vice President and her allies by 2028, the year of the next presidential election.
GMA News Online asked the senator for comment regarding Castro's remarks but she has yet to reply as of posting time.
Remulla was named Tuesday as the new Ombudsman, a day after the shortlist for the position was released by the Judicial and Bar Council.
Malacañang on Tuesday defended the President' decision to appoint Remulla as the new Ombudsman, saying that the latter went through a very rigorous selection process. —RF, GMA Integrated News
