SC to check judiciary infra projects amid flood control mess

The Supreme Court (SC) will create a committee that will look into all Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) projects in the judiciary amid the flood control controversy.

During the oath-taking of Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla on Thursday, acting Chief Justice Marvic Leonen said that the judiciary is doing its part to fight corruption.

“The Court En Banc has also agreed to create a working committee to inventory any and all projects within the judiciary that might have been contracted to or undertaken by the DPWH, if any,” Leonen said in his speech.

“And to report soonest to the chief justice as to their status,” he added.

He also said that the judiciary has a public email—integrity@judiciary.gov.ph—in order to allow stakeholders to inform the SC of any corruption within its ranks.

Leonen advised Remulla to build the cases.

“Discover, access, preserve, maintain, and then present the evidence properly in our courts. With due process and due and deliberate speed, we promise that we will also do our part,” he said.

Remulla has said that he will prioritize the investigation on flood control and expressed confidence that officials involved in the corruption will be held liable. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
