Palace on next DOJ chief: Marcos wants someone fair, with integrity

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. is eyeing someone who has integrity and who is fair as the next Secretary of Justice, Malacañang said on Monday.

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said there is no information yet as to the replacement of former Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin ''Boying'' Remulla, who took his oath last week as the Ombudsman.

''Wala pa po sa aking ibinibigay na anumang impormasyon at kapag mayroon naman katulad po noong nangyari noong nakaraan, naibigay naman po agad. At kahit wala po tayo dito nagbibigay din po ng update si Secretary Dave Gomez,'' Castro said.

(There's no information given to me yet and if there's such, we will give it as soon as possible. Secretary Dave Gomez can also give updates if I'm not here.)

Asked what are the considerations of the President in choosing the next chief of the Department of Justice, Castro said Marcos wants someone who has integrity, dependable, impartial, and fair.

''Katulad pa rin ng paghanap niya ng magagaling na leader at maaasahang tagapamuno ng Department of Justice, isang taong may integridad, maaasahan, walang kinakampihan at fair,'' Castro said.

(It's similar to his search for good leaders, he wants someone who has integrity, dependable, impartial, and fair to be the next chief of the Department of Justice.)

Justice Undersecretary Fredderick Vida was earlier said to be the acting chief of the DOJ following Remulla's appointment to the Ombudsman post.
