DepEd-NCR issues health, safety protocols amid rise of flu-like illnesses
The Department of Education-National Capital Region issued health and safety precautions amid the increasing incidents of influenza-like illnesses among learners and school personnel.
To recall, all face-to-face classes in public schools in Metro Manila were suspended from October 13 to 14 due to these influenza-like illnesses.
During this period, schools were instructed to observe Alternative Delivery Modalities (ADM), either synchronous or asynchronous, as provided under DepEd Order No. 54, s. 2012, to avoid disruption of learning.
The schools were directed to utilize the suspension period for the following:
- Conduct cleaning and disinfection of classrooms and common areas;
- Carry out structural and safety inspections of school buildings and facilities;
- Prepare for the facilitation or implementation of drills on earthquake preparedness and other emergency protocols; and
- Reinforce health and safety practices among learners, personnel, and parents
Further, the said advisory also reinforced DepEd Memorandum OUOPS-2025-06294, emphasizing earthquake preparedness and response procedures, including coordination with division engineers as well as local government units for inspection and mitigation actions.
Private schools are also encouraged to observe and conduct these measures for the safety of learners. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
