PNP: Focus crimes down 14% in Jan. 1–Oct. 9, 2025 period
There were 27,306 focus crimes reported from January 1 to October 9, 2025, a 14% lower tally than in the same period in 2024, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Monday.
In a press conference, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said that 31,878 focus crimes were reported in the same period last year.
Focus crimes are eight serious offenses that occur with sufficient frequency and regularity. They are: murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping of motor vehicles, and carnapping of motorcycles.
“Ang number one na bumababa sa eight focus crimes, ito po ang kaso ng rape na kung saan ito ay mas bumababa ng 22%,” Tuaño said.
(The number one that decreased the most among the focus crimes is rape, which is down 22%.)
“Sinundan ito ng kaso ng robbery na bumaba ng 17.35%. Medyo dikit po siya, ang physical injury [with 16.42% decline] at robbery na kung saan ito po ay more 16.21%,” he said.
(This was followed by robbery, which is down 17.35%. Physical injury and robbery are close behind, which are down by 16.42% and 16.21%, respectively.)
Meanwhile, the PNP said no looting incidents have been reported in Davao Oriental so far after the doublet earthquakes that struck Manay town on October 10.
According to the PNP, more than 2,000 police personnel have been deployed to secure the earthquake-hit province. — BM, GMA Integrated News
