Sara, Curlee Discaya face ICI anew

Contractor-couple Sarah and Curlee Discaya arrived at the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) on Wednesday for the continuation of the closed-door hearings on the allegedly anomalous flood control  projects.

Curlee was the first to arrive at the ICI office in Taguig shortly before his wife, Sarah, according to the videos posted by GMA Integrated News’ Joseph Morong. This will be their third appearance before the commission.

The Discaya couple was supposed to appear for the October 7 hearing of the ICI but they requested a postponement to allow them to have more time to retrieve certain documents, ICI Executive Director Brian Hosaka said.

“With regard to the Discayas, they asked for a reset of seven days. The next hearing would be set on Oct. 15 at 2 pm,” Hosaka told reporters.

“They were asking for time for them to retrieve certain documents which the commission requested,” Hosaka said.

Sarah and Curlee are among the contractors embroiled in the alleged anomalous flood control projects. Last week, the Bureau of Internal Revenue filed multiple tax complaints with the Department of Justice (DOJ) against the contractor-couple as well as a corporate officer over P7.1 billion in tax liabilities from 2018 to 2021. — Sundy Locus/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
