Marcos on those blaming him for flood control projects: Gusto nila akong tanggalin

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Wednesday maintained that he is blameless over the anomalies in flood control projects, saying the tirades being leveled against him are politically motivated.

At a press conference, Marcos was asked for his comment on assertions that the probe into the flood control projects would eventually lead to his doorstep as he is the one who signed the national budget and that he appointed individuals who could be involved in the anomalies in the infrastructure programs.

''On this I'm confident that whatever mud might be slung at the administration, that we will be able to show that this is – these are politically motivated and do not actually have any validation in fact,'' Marcos said.

Marcos emphasized that he is not hiding anything, adding that those in opposition would want to oust him.

''Wala naman tayong tinatago, wala tayong – I know that there are several – the opposition would love to bring me to this – to include me in all of this. But that's politics,'' Marcos said.

''That is not – that is not to do about corruption. That is to do about politics. Gusto nila akong tanggalin,'' he added.

Malacañang earlier maintained that Marcos is ''blameless'' in the anomalies and irregularities in flood control projects.

It was during his fourth SONA last July 28 when the President promised to crack the whip on public officials who profited from the government’s infrastructure projects, including flood control projects.

An Independent Commission for Infrastructure, through Marcos' executive order, was created to look into these anomalies.

Marcos also said he is confident because ''I know what we did or did not do.''

''So but if we are – we investigate. We investigate everybody. We follow the evidence. And wherever that leads, it's not something that we try to direct or influence. That's why we have the ICI,'' he said. —RF, GMA Integrated News
